“The stories we tell literally make the world. If you want to change the world, you need to change your story.
Michael Margolis, Educator, Futures Anthropologist
The stories we tell ourselves – and don’t tell ourselves – impact our emotions, physical states, our choices, and relationships. So, how can you use the power of Examine Envision Emerge to change those stories?
Here’s a simple exercise:
Suppose you meet someone new. Sooner or later, they’ll ask, “Tell me about yourself.”
What story do you share?
Why do you share that particular story?
How much of the story is true?
How much of the story is authentic to who you are now, at this moment in your life?
We often find ourselves sharing the same story over and over out of habit. But now, take a step back and look at that narrative with new eyes.
- EXAMINE the elements of your story using the criteria described above for this step.
- If any element of the story no longer fits, feels relevant, or is authentic, begin to ENVISION a new narrative that is heart based rather than on an old tape you’ve played over and over in your head.
- Now, having developed a new narrative, put that narrative into practice and EMERGE into the Light!
