Accountability Coaching

Feet to the Fire Within Accountability Coaching

“Accountability separates the wishers in life from the action-takers that care enough about their future to account for their daily actions.” John Di Lemme

As your Accountability Coach, I will hold your feet to the fire within you as we work together on the goals that really matter to you. I will provide meaningful support as you work toward your goals; inquire, encourage, and advise so that you remain aligned with your objectives; help you stay on task – and, yes, even finish!

We all know that setting goals – knowing where you want to be and what you want to achieve – is key to success, whether your goal is finding financial prosperity, maintaining a healthier lifestyle, or getting a new job. And, we know that it’s equally important to have a plan and establish benchmarks along the way so that we can measure progress and stay motivated.

However, all that goal setting and planning and progress measuring won’t amount to much if you can’t – or won’t – the first step, find the motivation to take the next step, and then develop momentum to keep taking all the next steps after that.

Once you know where you’re going, do you set off with purpose, moving ever forward, keeping up your momentum, and sticking resolutely to your goal? Or, are you easily distracted, wandering here and there, not paying much attention to where you are and how you got there? Do you focus on the reasons why you shouldn’t start or can’t keep going? Do you find yourself actually creating obstacles to your success?

Those who consistently hit their goals understand that the key to success is turning information into sustained action. We all know at least one person who has created a fine-tuned action plan that they consistently follow through on. And when we see them doing what they need to do to reach their goals, we can’t help but wonder, “What is this magic they’re using, and where can I get it?”

The unfortunate truth is that most people aren’t taking consistent action towards their goals. At some point, their resolve breaks down, and their good intentions go by the wayside. They run into an unexpected challenge or self-sabotaging behavior. In the end, they’re stuck in what T. Boone Pickens called the Ready Aim Aim Aim syndrome, struggling to start and then stick to anything longer than a few days, weeks, or months.

But why? Is it a lack of motivation? A lack of self-discipline? Or is the real problem a lack of accountability? And if it is “just” about accountability, can’t we simply hold ourselves accountable? Perhaps in an ideal world, we would all be able to do just that without the need for someone else to help us.

However, the true meaning – and value – of accountability is that you answer to someone else for your choices, decisions, and actions.

If this sounds familiar to you, and you’re ready to “answer to someone else,” let me be your Accountability Coach! I’ll show you how to get clear on the goals you want to achieve; break down those goals into manageable, actionable steps; identify skills, practices, and sustainable daily actions for achieving your goals; and uncover the obstacles keeping you from making progress and moving you closer to your goal. And together, we’ll celebrate your successes along the way, no matter how small!

“When accountability is present, people keep their eyes on a very clear prize. They know what they are working toward and how they are going to get there.” Henry J. Evans

As your Accountability Coach, I will:

  • Help you get clear on the goals and objectives you want to achieve.
  • Work with you to identify skills, practices, and sustainable daily actions for achieving your goals.
  • Help you stay on track and maintain focus rather than get distracted or use other jobs/tasks as a reason to not take action.
  • Keep an eye on your desired behavior and your actual behavior and make you aware when the two contradict.
  • Offer assistance and suggestions if you seem to be struggling toward the stated goal.
  • Identify any obstacles that might be keeping you from making progress and help you find ways to overcome those obstacles.
  • Celebrate your successes, no matter how small!

I will be a person you can trust and rely on, and I promise to provide honest, objective feedback. I will ask a lot of you. Not too much, I hope, but perhaps more than you may have been asked in the past. I request that you be willing to experiment with fresh approaches and try new ways of completing a task. I will invite you to tell the truth, raise your personal standards, and set higher – achievable – goals. The more willing you are to stretch and grow, the greater the benefits from coaching!

Why Work With Me?

Excellent coaching requires the right combination of education, professional skills, and life experience that gives the coach a broad knowledge of personal success and failure. Rest assured, I have achieved great success and experienced spectacular failure in my professional and personal life, and I’m confident that what I’ve learned along the way will be valuable to you!

First and foremost, I practice what I preach: I, too, use an accountability coach to help me achieve both my short-term and long-term goals; clarify my objectives; and keep me on track to achieve those goals.

Second, I have 30 years’ professional experience working as a Project Manager – and accountability is an essential component for success. I have extensive expertise in helping my clients define the purpose and the desired end state of their project; determine whether the project is stuck or off track; and help them find the motivation and momentum to get going again.

Nuts and Lightning Bolts

We’ll begin with a free consultation. We’ll discuss why you’re seeking someone to help hold you accountable and what you really want for yourself. We’ll look at your goals and objectives as well as your timeframe for achieving your goals. Most importantly, we’ll talk about the best way to coach you, and what we can expect from each other. My coaching style might not fit your personality, working style, etc. The key to success is ensuring that our relationship is compatible and that we’ll be better together!

I can easily tailor my expert services to exactly fit whatever your coaching needs are. Perhaps you’re already well on your way but just need someone to look at what you’ve done so far and tweak if necessary. Sometimes just talking with someone about what you’re working on and trying to accomplish is enough to clarify things. If this meets your needs, an hourly fee will be perfect for you.

On the other hand, maybe you need the “full package,” from having tools for defining, tracking, and closing out tasks to weekly check-ins and methods for measuring progress and defining success. In this case, a monthly package would best suit what you’re looking for.
